Site Clearing & Land Management
Most new development projects start with the removal of existing trees, vegetation, and organics. This allows the permanent construction above and below to be adequately and properly supported. We have the capability, expertise, and equipment to perform this work in-house.
Additionally, we regularly partner with tree removal and clearing subcontractors for site specific needs to make sure we can safely and efficiently clear projects of any size and regardless of proximity to adjacent properties.
Earthwork
MSC prides itself on our excavation, compaction, and grading capabilities. This allows us to perform all earthwork activities efficiently and economically. Our experienced staff is very knowledgeable of regional soils, water tables, and the associated factors required to cut, fill and balance sites.
With the majority of good sites already developed, this gives us a competitive advantage when tackling the challenging sites with marginal soils that have become prevalent in the region.
Trucking
MSC has been in the trucking business since its inception in 1975, that was our initial footprint in Jacksonville on the Westside for many years. We had a fleet of dump trucks that hauled Fill dirt, rock and sand all over Jacksonville. We expanded that hauling operation to the industrial sector to include Gypsum, and raw aggregates being brought in by ship to Blount Island for mass distribution. Although that is no longer our main focus of business, we still hold COJ and JEA contracts for hauling Fill Dirt around Jacksonville.
Underground Utilities & Storm Drainage
MSC is a fully licensed underground utility contractor with multiple pipe crews. We can self-perform storm drainage, gravity sewer, and pressure pipe. Deep or shallow, we have the personnel and leadership to ensure this work is carried out safely and effectively. We also partner with leaders in the private utility sector to help supplement our forces when needed.
Aggregate Supply & Placement
MSC also specializes in supplying various aggregate materials, such as lime rock, crushed granite, and crush-crete, among others. We guarantee the highest quality aggregates for our customers and provide delivery services across the greater Jacksonville area. Moreover, we offer fast, affordable, and accurate placement of these materials on your site for your convenience.
Concrete & Curbing
MSC maintains positive working relationships with some of the largest concrete subcontractors in the region. We coordinate and manage their work and prepare the supporting subgrades on our larger projects. While we perform many miscellaneous concrete tasks, we rely on the experts in this field for substantial projects to capitalize on their expertise and economy of scale in the trade.
Asphalt Paving, Striping, Signage & Sealcoating
MSC regularly performs miscellaneous asphalt patching, road crossings, and tertiary work. However, we rely on the experts in this field to perform the majority of our asphalt paving, striping, and signage. We work closely with the largest subcontractors and suppliers in the region to ensure the surface drains properly, has a great service life, meets ADA/Accessibility requirements, and looks good.
Landfill Capping
As part of our diversified services, MSC has performed various landfill services over the years. This includes capping, importing material, slope/erosion corrections, animal burrow abatement, grassing, erosion control, and various other miscellaneous tasks. Our team works with the owner/operators to develop the specific scope and oftentimes creative solutions needed. We have a small fleet of specialized equipment devised specifically for this work.
Erosion Control Services
Environmental stewardship is very important to MSC and we take any potential impacts to surrounding areas seriously. We have experienced and qualified personnel on staff to implement, maintain, and document all required control systems. Additionally, we partner with local testing/engineering firms to reinforce our efforts and help navigate more challenging projects as needed. This allows us to work proactively with the authorities to address any issues and get in front of potential issues.
Project Evaluation
MSC has a competent staff of construction professionals with the knowledge, skills, and experience to effectively budget, quote, and value engineer any of your site development needs. We utilize HCSS Heavybid in our estimating system with a comprehensive and self developeddatabase of costs.
This allows us to budget work quickly at the various design stages and then convert to construction estimates efficiently. We welcome the opportunity to work with all project stakeholders early in the process to identify any value engineering opportunities, lead time constraints, and to help overall budget analysis
Project Budgeting
Budgeting is one of the last steps in our Preconstruction Services portfolio.
